Pierce picked up his first guitar as a kid on the coast of South Carolina, and it never left his hands. What started as an interest in fingerstyle arrangements grew into a deep study of classical technique — and eventually, a decade spent helping other people fall in love with the instrument the same way he did.

His teaching draws equally from formal classical training and the looser, ear-first sensibility of fingerstyle playing. Lessons are built around whatever a student actually wants to play, whether that's a Bach prelude, a Tommy Emmanuel arrangement, or something they wrote themselves — with the technical foundation to support all three.

Pierce lives in the Lowcountry and teaches from a home studio, with online lessons available for students further afield.

"Technique should disappear into the music — the goal is never the exercise, it's the piece."
